Netflix Gaming Content; New VR Deal.
World’s biggest video streaming website Netflix has stepped up its pursuit of gaming and publicly announced a gaming deal with Shonda Rhimes. This deal is a clear leap towards VR and gaming which aims to exclusively produce VR and gaming content.
Shonda Rhimes is a top-tier television producer whose Bridgerton series is massively popular among the masses. Bridgerton series is also one of the most-watched series on Netflix which ultimately inspired Netflix to ink this new deal. This deal further consolidates the relationship between Netflix and Rhimes in several different ways. However, Netflix’s publicly said that this partnership also includes an opportunity to produces and distribute gaming and VR content.

However, back in April Netflix’s chief operating officer hinted that Netflix is making advancements in gaming. He said, “We’re trying to figure out what are all these different ways … we can deepen that fandom, and certainly games are a really interesting component of that. There’s no doubt that games are going to be an important form of entertainment and an important modality to deepen that fan experience.”

As for Virtual Reality gaming, there is a lot of hype surrounding it as being the next big thing in gaming. However, there is still plenty of doubt surrounding the idea of it becoming a regular household item. Still, Netflix officials have expressed strong interest in the field but cautiously. As of recently, Netflix said that it would adopt a wait and watch policy regarding VR and see how things go.
With this new deal in place, the day isn’t far when we see and play VR and video games on Netflix.
