Evolution Championship Series
Evolution Championship Series, commonly known as Evo is famous for its annual esports tournament. Sony Interactive Entertainment has acquired EVO alongside a new esports company known as RTS. The terms of the acquisition are not disclosed yet.
EVO
EVO is one of the biggest and a major event in the fighting game tournament throughout the world. Players from all over the world take part in EVO and a huge fan base backs their favorite players. Top players of games like Tekken, Street Fighter, Smash Bros, and Mortal Kombat go head to head to earn fame and a lot of bucks.
However, EVO 2020 was postponed due to the global pandemic and was later shifted to the online-only competition. That too eventually got canceled after the allegations of misconduct and abuse were made against Joey Cuellar, the CEO, who was later dismissed.

The next EVO events will be digital-only and will start in August this year. The first games announced for EVO 2021 are Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, Guilty Gear Strive, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, and Tekken 7.
EVO was previously owned and managed by Triple Perfect Inc. and now Sony jointly acquired the business alongside RTS.
