Epic Games Acquires Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout parent company Tonic Games Group.
The biggest headline today in the gaming industry? It’s acquires the parent company of Fall Guys.’ Epic Games made the announcement earlier today. It said that it had acquired Tonic Games Group. Tonic Games Group is the parent company of Mediatonic, The Irregular Corporation, and Fortitude Games.
Metaverse
Epic Game is in serious pursuit of realizing the dream of a metaverse. Therefore acquiring Tonic Games Group is a huge step towards it. Therefore this acquisition will surely play role in building up and development of It’s already established Unreal Engine technology. Mediatonic (Fall Guys), Irregular Corporation (PC Building Simulator, Murder by Numbers), and Fortitude Games (start-up studio) are now part of It’s ever-powerful and ever-growing roster. However, the detail of the deal isn’t public at the moment.
Creative talent
Tim Sweeney, Epic Games founder, and CEO said, “It’s no secret that It’s is invested in building the metaverse and Tonic Games shares this goal, as it’s works to build this virtual future, we need great creative talent who know how to build powerful games, content, and experiences.”
Future
As for the future of last year’s sensation Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, Epic says that it will remain as is and won’t pull it out from any storefronts and, “will continue to invest in making the game a great experience for players across platforms.”
Tonic Games Group
Tonic Games Group co-founder and CEO Dave Bailey shared his thoughts on the acquisition, “With it, we feel like we have found a home that was made for us, They share our mission to build and support games that have a positive impact, empower others and stand the test of time and we couldn’t be more excited to be joining forces with their team.”
Epic’s acquisition has always been epic and its previous acquisitions that came into the limelight were; acquisition of Rocket League developer Psyonix in 2019 and Chair Entertainment acquisition in 2008.
