Video Game Developers Support Ukraine by Pulling Out Games from Russia.
The recent war and invasion of Russia in Ukraine have caused severe criticism and outcry. It has resulted in massive casualties and disrupted the lives of millions of people.
Countries, communities, businesses, industries, and people from all walks of life are condemning the atrocious act.
Video game developers and publishers have also condemned Russia’s offense and retaliated by pulling out games from Russia. Many have pulled out and stopped video game sales, and many others have limited the games in Russia.
Bloober Team, known for its horror games like The Medium, has started working to pull and stop its video games in Russia and Belarus.
Their official Twitter handle said, “We want to be a part of a world that doesn’t turn a blind eye to warmongering. And we won’t stay neutral when human lives are at stake.”
Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED has suspended its digital sales and halted the physical copy shipments to Russia and Belarus.
The studio released a statement that read, “We know that players in Russia and Belarus, individuals who have nothing to do with the invasion of Ukraine, will be impacted by this decision, but with this action we wish to further galvanize the global community to speak about what is going on in the heart of Europe.”
EA has already scraped Russian clubs and leagues from its famous video game FIFA 22, FIFA Mobile, and FIFA Online. EA is also implementing similar changes in its other games.
Several other studios are busy fundraising to support their Ukrainian counterparts. Several Ukrainian gaming studios have stopped working due to the war, one such example is GSC Game World which has stopped the development of STALKER2: Heart of Chernobyl.
As of now the war is still underway and the future is uncertain for the Ukrainians.
