Gaming Industry Icon, Gabe Newell, Speaks on Metaverse and NFT’s.

An icon of the gaming industry, Valve’s Gabe Newell went after metaverse and shared his candid thoughts. Thoughts that most of the gaming community holds in their hearts and are not that vocal about it.

Gabe Newell during the promotion of Steam Deck, Valve’s new portable gaming PC product, gave fun interviews about emerging trends.

Earlier, when blockchain gaming and P2E games were penetrating the gaming market, Valve took a stern stance that it wouldn’t allow any such games on its platform.

On the contrary, Steam’s rival markets like Epic Games were lenient in its approach and were more welcoming to blockchain based games.

In a recent interview, Gabe talked about Valve’s stance on blockchain, the metaverse, and the gold rush this all has brought about.

While talking to PC Gamer Gabe said, “The things that were being done were super sketchy. And there was some illegal shit that was going on behind the scenes, and you’re just like, yeah, this is bad.

Blockchains as a technology are a great technology, that the ways in which has been utilised are currently are all pretty sketchy. And you sort of want to stay away from that…. The people who are currently active in that space are not usually good actors.”

While sharing his thoughts on the metaverse Gabe said, “There’s a bunch of get rich quick schemes around metaverse. Most of the people who are talking about metaverse have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about.

And they’ve apparently never played an MMO. They’re like, ‘Oh, you’ll have this customizable avatar.’ And it’s like, well… go into La Noscea in Final Fantasy 14 and tell me that this isn’t a solved problem from a decade ago, not some fabulous thing that you’re, you know, inventing.”

Gabe Newell is an icon in the gaming industry and his views on the metaverse and upcoming trends matters a lot.

The way Gabe spoke candidly about the metaverse is something that others haven’t done yet. He has set the record straight.

However, Gabe was optimistic about the future and said, “But you know, in the end, customers and useful technology win out, so I’m not super worried about that.”
