Will We Miss Sony?” hide_hashtags=”true”]In 2020, owing to the pandemic, Electronic Entertainment Expo got canceled. Entertainment Software Association (ESA) tried to make up for it but with no strong support, the event was altogether canceled. With no new dates initially this year, it wasn’t clear whether E-3 will make a return or not. However, this year some big names and a bunch of developers have confirmed that they will be attending E3 2021. Among these are two big-name; Nintendo and Xbox. However, some notable companies have decided otherwise.
The companies that have confirmed about attending the event are Xbox, Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two, Warner Bros., and Koch Media. On the contrary, notable mentions that haven’t confirmed their participation in the event are Sony, EA, Activision Blizzard, Sega, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix.
Online E3 2021
Earlier speculation about E3 turned otherwise. Game pundits speculated that there won’t be any E3 event taking place this year in the first place. If E-3 somehow manages to host the event, it would be ignored by all the big names in the gaming industry. However, when Xbox and Nintendo announced their participation, many were surprised. Their participation is surely a boon to ESA and can turn things around for good in the future.
On Sony’s absence, ESA released a statement, “While, much like previous years, Sony does not plan to participate in E-3, we continue to focus on delivering the leading and reimagined showcase for video game news, announcements, reveals, networking and interactivity that has made E-3 a beloved experience for decades.”
ESA’s event has always been a celebration of huge announcements and new gaming reveals but Sony’s absence will surely spoil the show for many.
