The Ghost of Tsushima Review!

Ever since Assassin’s Creed started leaping around in time and space, there has been a long-standing thirst to see an open-world stealth action game set and fueled in Japan.

Consider that monumental thirst eventually quenched by Ghost of Tsushima. Sucker Punch’s latest is an absolute visual masterpiece and a gorgeous adventure amidst one of the most beautiful and landscapes in the gaming industry, an eye candy to be exact.

To put the icing on the cake, it is supported by one of the best combat systems that the genre has ever experienced. But there are some hiccups in the form of enemy AI and when going stealth and a few minor frustrations.

But for just about every moment Ghost of Tsushima faulters, there are plenty more where it soars.

It is based on the invasion of Japan by the Mongol empire in 1274, where it began on the island of Tsushima. You play as a samurai protagonist who found it the hard way that to survive, the honorable but restricted ways of a Samurai code isn’t enough.

The game takes a little while to get going but it’s a compelling struggle. The English dub in the game is awesome, but it is a shame that the Japanese audio tracks come off as a cheap dub with wildly mismatched flip flaps.

The music, on the other hand, is top-notch with seamless shifts from quiet and ambient Japanese flutes during stealth moments to thunderous drums when engaged in combat and blades starts slashing.

The fighting mechanics, main story, and side quests all make it a game worth playing. The game is guaranteed to bring you authentic samurai experience with extraordinary visual spectacles and excellent combat mechanics. Ghost of Tsushima is a must-play game. See you until the next time.
