Revenue figures

Both fields; game streaming and global esports, are projected to grow from $2.1 billion in 2021 to $3.5 billion with the Asia Pacific region accounting for 50% of viewers. This means that this year both these fields will bring $2.1 billion which will rise steadily to $3.5 billion in 2025; a 70% rise over the span of the next four years.

The revenue figures projected by Juniper Research include subscription and advertising revenues of live streaming platforms like Twitch and Facebook Gaming. Moreover, this also includes esports broadcasting rights, sponsorship deals, and live event ticket sales.

Outreach and audience

However, the outreach and audience for esports and game streaming won’t increase at the same rate. Juniper projects that in 2021 800 million people will watch game streaming content and e-sports. However, this number will grow to a massive 1 billion people by 2025, this is something astronomical.

One out of nine people watches

Although an audience of 1 billion seems massive but when it is compared to projected revenue growth it turns out much smaller. The audience growth makes up only 25% over four years but still, this means that one out of nine people will watch esports and game streaming.

Asia is Growth

The research report also shares that most number of audiences will come from the Asia Pacific region. Asia Pacific region will account for more than half of the audience but in terms of sales proportion it won’t account for much. The top three markets in terms of revenue are projected as North America, Far East/ China, and Western Europe.
