The press release from Krafton Labs shares that it has several plans with Solana Labs that include “development and operation of blockchain and NFT-based games and services.”

The partnership will facilitate blockchain-based games, auspicious news for crypto game enthusiasts.

Solana Labs uses a different blockchain technology which makes it stand apart from its competitors like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others.

A transaction on the Solana blockchain network uses a tiny fragment of energy which is equivalent to two Google searches. Solana Foundation claims that energy efficiency is paramount as it uses 24 times less energy than charging a mobile phone.

Moreover, the company also claims that it is the fastest blockchain network in the world with the ability to verify 65000 transactions per second.

Speaking on the agreement, Hyung Chul Park, lead of Krafton’s Web 3.0 division said, “Krafton will continuously see ways to work closely with blockchain companies like Solana Labs as we work toward establishing our Web 3 ecosystem.

“Solana represents the best of the Web 3.0 ecosystem and its technologies. Through this cooperation, Krafton will acquire the insight needed to accelerate its investment in and output of blockchain-based experiences,” he further added in the press release.

The agreement between Krafton Labs and Solana comes amidst continued backlash and criticism against crypto games from the traditional video game industry.

Previously, Krafton invested $6.6 million in Korean-based NFT startups to make progress in its Web 3 projects.

However, it is notable that the recent agreement between Krafton Labs and Solana Labs is a memorandum of understanding (MOU) which means that Krafton Labs can back out of the deal at any time without the worry of any legal repercussions.
